PERFORMA-Q – Stage for Untold and Erased Queer Stories from Europe’s Periphery

The main focus of the European collaborative project PERFORMA-Q lies on queer authors, directorss, playwrights, theatre makers and artists as such. They tell stories from Europe’s margins, where queer perspectives are often underrepresented and artists confronted with structural barriers, limited options for being produced and little visibility.
The project PERFORMA-Q looks to synergise artistic production, shared knowledge and community building on order to create space for new perspectives and thereby contribute to a diverse, open and democratic European cultural landscape.

The main activities include international artistic residencies in Vienna and the other twin town, mentoring programmes, public showcases as well as networking formats for artists, institutions and  communities. The developed works from these programmes will subsequently be publicly showcased at international festivals such as the Drama Queer Festival in Bratislava and the Proud Performing Arts Festival.
Furthermore, the Q-Theque shall be built, a digital archive, that documents queer artistic works and makes them publicly accessible for the community.

The first call for residency will be published on June 8, 2026.
