Miriam V. Lesch, born 1991 in Graz, lives and works as a freelance author and dramaturge (e.g. WUK, Kosmos Theater, Kunsthalle) in Vienna. Since 2013, she has published short prose and poetry in various literary magazines (including LICHTUNGEN).
In 2021, Miriam V. Lesch developed her play “Wald” as part of the Tour des Textes, which was also presented in a staged reading at the Wortstattnächte. The play premiered at the Oldenburgische Staatstheater in 2024 and was shown in further productions at the Landestheater Detmold in January 2025, at the Theater Forum Stuttgart in February 2025, at the Kosmostheater Bregenz in September 2025 and at Theater Lübeck in November 2025. “Wald” was invited to the Autor:innen Wettbewerb of the Heidelberg Stückemarkt 2022 and 2026. where it received the award Nachspielpreis 2026. The play was also translated into French and Serbian.
Her short radio play Was wirklich geschah was selected as one of the ten best radio plays of 2021 in the Ö1 Track 5 competition. In 2024 she received the Dramatiker:innen scholarship from the Austrian Federal Chancellery. With her second full-length play Der Letzte Bissen, she was invited to the Literary Colloquium Berlin for a writing residency in 2024 and was shortlisted for the New People’s Stage Prize 2025.
As a playwright she is represented by Hartmann&Stauffacher.
2025 he wrote a part for the 20 years of WIENER WORTSTAETTEN anniversary production House of Words.
