OPEN CALL: WIENER WORTSTAETTEN Drama Lab 2024

as part of „Fabulamundi. Playwriting Europe. New Voices“

The creation of new texts for the stage has been the focus of the WIENER WORTSTAETTEN’s work since the beginning, as well as the artistic exploration of socially relevant themes and networking between playwrights.

WIENER WORTSTAETTEN is calling for applications for five so-called workplaces for the Drama Lab 2024.

This model of cooperation with authors includes a contract for work amounting to € 3,000 as well as dramaturgical support for the period of one year. Furthermore, regular working meetings of all selected authors as well as individual and group readings. Any travel expenses will be covered by the WIENER WORTSTAETTEN or its cooperation partners.

In addition, the Theater am Werk will accompany the creation of the texts as a ” Patentheater” and premiere one play in the 2024/25 season.
All the texts created will be presented in staged readings in Vienna as part of the “Wortstattnächte” in autumn 2024.

Application

The application process is anonymous. Individual playwrights as well as teams and collectives can apply. Multilingualism within the texts is possible, however, the working language of the Drama Lab is German.
There are no content-related or formal requirements for the texts.

The Drama Lab 2024 takes place within the framework of the EU project “Fabulamundi. Playwriting Europe. New Voices”, a European cooperation project for the promotion of young playwrights. In accordance with the formal requirements of the project, the call is open to authors who are no older than 27. More information at fabulamundi.eu .

The call for proposal is closed.

A three-member jury will anonymously review the submissions and decide on the allocation by 1 December 2023.
